Wedding Etiquette, Know How to Conduct Yourself
Wedding etiquette is the term used to describe the socially acceptable
rules pertaining to a wedding. Most of these rules are traditional
while a few have emerge out of necessity. For example, it is customary
for the bride's father to pay for the wedding, but nowadays many
couples are marrying later after they have a career and are financially
stable. Some couples choose to chip in instead of leaving the burden
on the bride's father.

When should I send my wedding invitations?
Many couples send their invitations atleast three months before
the wedding.
How should I seat my guests?
The seating of guest should be left to the ushers. It is customary
for the bride's family to sit on the left side and the groom's family
to sit on the right. Also, the parents usually sit in the front
row seats, your siblings behind them then other family members follow.
If a guest offers a tip to a waiter/waitress at the reception,
should he/she take it?
Customarily your guest should not tip your waiter/waitress. However,
some guest are used to tipping and will offer your waiter/waitress
a tip. So inform your caterer not to accept tips. Better yet, you
could ask him or her to put up a sign, especially at the bar, that
says "no tipping please" if you do not want your guests
to tip.
Should I open my gifts at the reception?
It is generally accepted not to open your gifts at your reception.
For the gifts you receive at your reception, designate someone to
secure them in a room for you.
Should I state in my invitation where I have a registry?
It is considered inappropriate to put registration information
in your invitation. What you should do instead is to let others
spread the word. However, it is generally okay for those who organize
your wedding to include your registration information.
How long after the wedding should I send thank you cards?
It is best to send them as soon as possible. Don't wait for more
than two months.
Is it okay to return a gift that I already have?
Well, it depends on who gave it to you. If a close friend gave
it you and you know she is the type who is easily hurt then keep
it. But if the person is far away and is not likely to ask about
the gift you may return it for another.
Can my mother throw my shower?
Your mother should never throw your shower. It is not considered
proper etiquette for close family members to throw a shower.
Can men be a part of the bridal attendants?
Yes, they can.
Who should be the first to toast the bride and groom?
The best man is generally the first to give a toast.
Is it okay to drink to a toast given to my partner at the reception?
No, you should never drink to a toast that's given to you or your
partner at the reception.
